Vance AFB’s Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training Class 14-05 created a class patch spoofing the “My Little Pony” toys and media.  For those who are unaware, My Little Pony is toy line started in 1982 by Hasbro that was primarily aimed at little girls. In the years since, My Little Pony has grown into a media franchise with movies, TV shows, books and video games.  The patch spoofs the logo from the popular animated TV series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.  The logo is below for comparison:

While targeted at kids, My Little Pony has a large and devoted base of adult fans. Male My Little Pony fans are referred to as “Bronies”. Because of this large fan base, news of the class patch was picked up by numerous media outlets after being posted on My Little Pony fan sites.  Since most class patches tend toward more masculine designs, this also generated interest to the class’ unique design.

Here are several articles about the patch for your enjoyment. The article in the Enid News and Eagle also details the process the class had to go through to get the patch approved.
