I’m a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and have been helping to make patches for family, friends and co-workers since 1997. To see some of the patches I’ve produced over the years, please see Patch example gallery at the bottom of this page.
I am NOT an approved vendor for a USAF/USSF unit to procure officially approved patches with government funds.
SPFGM2022-36-02 (8 November 2022) para 1.1. states “OCPs and items designed and approved by The Institute of Heraldry (TIOH) for the OCP purchased through the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) Military Clothing Sales Stores (MCSS), or issued through Individual Equipment Elements (or contract equivalent), are certified as fully compliant with all specifications. No other suppliers are approved for organizational or unit purchases, or any appropriated or Overseas Contingency Operation funds expenditures.“
Approved patches are considered those approved by the Air Force Historical Research Agency with an official drawing completed by the Institute of Heraldry. To use government funds units are required to procure official patches from one of the vendors certified by The Institute of Heraldry. I can provide patches if they are being paid for by an individual or a private group such as a booster club. I can take GPC for patches deemed as an “award” like coins.

PROCESS
If you are interested, please do the following:

- Artwork
- Kind of patch desired (embroidered or PVC)
- Total number of patches you want
- Desired size (height in inches)
- With or without VELCRO®
- Any special instructions
- I will response back to you within 2-3 days to confirm your information.
- Pay the deposit.
- (PVC Only) Within 1-2 weeks I will send you a mold proof for approval. See below for more details.
- I will get a sample made and e-mail you an image for any corrections and/or changes. Be aware that changes may incur additional costs, especially with PVC patches.
- Once you have approved the sample, the patches will go into production.
- Once completed, make final payment.
- I will either ship the patches to you or you may pick them up if you are in the Colorado Springs area.

ARTWORK
Please provide artwork in a vector format if possible (.SVG, .AI, or .CDR). I can also accept .JPG, .PNG, and .PPT formats. If using those formats ensure you provide the largest and most detailed artwork available. If there are specific colors that are required please provide that information. PMS color codes are preferred.
I CURRENTLY DON’T HAVE THE TIME TO DO ARTWORK, SO PLEASE SUBMIT A FINAL DESIGN.
MINIMUM ORDER
50 patches is the minimum for initial and reorders. In some circumstances I can go as low as 25. For embroidered patches, price per patch decreases at 100, 200, 300, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000 and 5000 pieces. The biggest price drop is between 50 and 100 patches. For PVC patches price decrease varies.

Times listed are approximate as each order will vary. Timelines are also dependent upon the customer responding back in a timely manner.

PRICING
I provide custom made embroidered or PVC patches effectively at cost. What’s the catch? You provide me 10-20 extras so I can have one for my personal collection as well as some for trading/selling. If you do not want your patches traded or sold off my website please let me know — the prices in this case will be higher. Patch price is determined by the following factors:
- Number of Patches
- With or without VELCRO®
- Size of Patch [(length + width]/2)]
- Number of Colors
- Embroidered: up to 7 colors included, additional colors increase costs
- PVC: each color increases costs
- Mold Fee (Initial PVC Patches ONLY)
- Shipping/Insurance

PAYMENT
I accept major Credit Cards, Paypal, Zelle, Apple Pay and Vimeo. I can also accept cash or check, but the other methods are preferred. An initial deposit is required to initiate the order and will be applied to the total cost. After the PVC mold proof or the embroidered sample is made, the deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE if you elect to cancel the order. Once the order is done I will send an invoice with the remaining amount due. Final payment is required before items may be picked up or shipped.
PAY DEPOSIT
DELIVERY
If you are in the Colorado Springs are we can setup a time/place for free pickup after final payment. If you are outside of Colorado Springs, your order will be shipped after final payment. I will ship your patches via US Postal Service (USPS) or United Parcel Service (UPS) and will provide a tracking number after the patches have shipped. I insure all shipments.
PVC MOLD PROOF
For PVC patches, a metal mold is required to produced the patch. In order to produce the mold a drawing called a “Mold Proof” is made. I will e-mail a .JPG or .PNG file of the mold proof (see below for examples) to you prior to production of the sample within 2 weeks after you placed a deposit. The mold proof is your last chance to make major changes prior to the sample is produced. It is your responsibility to review the mold proof and CAREFULLY verify the following:
- Correct design
- Correct dimensions
- Correct colors
If changes are required, I will provide a new mold proof within 7 days. Once you approve the mold proof, I will get a sample produced and your deposit in NON-REFUNDABLE.
SAMPLE
A sample will be produced prior to full scale production. I will e-mail you .JPG or .PNG file of the sample (see examples below) within 2 weeks after you approve the mold proof for PVC or after placing the deposit for embroidered. In rare instances I can provide a physical sample but this will incur an additional fee.
For PVC patches, because a mold is made, typically the only changes that can be made are the colors. Any other changes will require an additional mold fee (typically $80-100) in addition to your original price quote. This will start the process over with a new mold proof.
For embroidered patches, changes can be made a maximum of 3 times. Any changes after that will incur an additional fee (typically $50) on top of your original quote. Please verify the following for embroidered patches:
- Correct design
- Correct size
- Correct colors
Once a sample is approved, PVC or embroidered, a patch will go into production.
