Welcome to the USAFpatches.com Gallery, the centerpiece of this website featuring over 30,000 embroidered, leather, PVC and silk-screened patches patches representing organizations, exercises, competitions, classes, weapon systems, and installations from the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Space Force and its predecessor organizations. While the Gallery is one of the most comprehensive compilations of U.S. Air Force patches available, it is by no means complete. The patches pictured are only a small percentage of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force patches that exist. Gallery images come from the Webmaster’s or visitor’s personal collections. 304th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron
Significance: The emblem is symbolic of the unit, its mission and the Air Force. The emblem is circular with one scroll below and the Air Force colors of sky blue and golden yellow specifically used in its design. The golden yellow represents the sun and excellence of personnel in assigned tasks. The emblem's background is the blue sky that is the primary theater of Air Force operation. The light gray flying duck with its twirling tail feathers in rotary motion, the wearing of the brown leather military
flying helmet with goggles and the binoculars portray the early traditions of military aviation and its rescue roll. The bird in
flight portrays the unit's distinctive history, which has always involved a flying mission. The white snowcapped mountain peak with the threatening gray shadows denoting the ever-present danger of unknown avalanche and treacherous glacial ice represents the most hazardous and majestic operational area of the unit's land rescue mission. The skis represent the traditional surface transportation that rescuemen use on snow-covered mountain slopes. The binoculars represent man's traditional attempts to search for objects and/or people in need of assistance. The yellow band on the tail of the duck represents the unit's historic ties to the Air Force global mercy mission when all rescue aircraft were so marked for international recognition. The emblem was officially approved on September 10, 1985.
